Here is my journey to GPS world.
I bought GlobalSat BR304 from that website. Installation instructions were very easy to follow (as my work is partly to design/create/solder electronics), but it should be easy to do even for a newbie aswell.
You can use many different map programs, I'm still thinking which one to get. It just needs to be NMEA 0183 compatible, and support northern Finland aswell.
I did do connection to a PC a bit differently, as I did re-use some parts I already had lying around. Here is few pics of them, and also a "final product". The extra 5V power supply is just a temporary for demo purposes, I will do proper connection to PS/2 connector later on.
Update: Power connection from PS/2 connector available. I tried it also in a moving car, and it worked well. I just need a power supply for the laptot to car, as the battery is old an will die too fast.
